Cabin Fever on Gambier Island

August 2016

Two industrious friends of mine, from UBC's Architecture program, asked me to come to Gambier Island to photograph the cabins that their program builds on the island every year. Their cabin, and the others, were completely gorgeous , nestled in among the lush ferns, and old growth trees, with the sounds of the ocean lulling you to sleep from the open bunk beds, or the retreat of the loft bed on top. It was such a joy to see this come to fruition, and to catch up. I am truly proud of these two for their continued hard work and vision!

It was so cathartic shooting this moving meditation all day. This piece "Follow" is Sarah Gallos' work. It was glorious to shoot, and The Canadian Council For the Arts is publishing a few of these photos! Feels great, as I was very insecure about these, being shot on an old kit lens, again in a pinch.

I LOVE HIM SO MUCH, AND FEEL VERY GRATEFUL TO HAVE CAPTURED THESE MEMORIES WITH his GRANDPA, on grandpa's farm. MY HEART SWELLS.

I was approached by Matt via Facebook, while I was in Calgary to shoot a wedding. He needed shots for his business, and website, and for his yoga practice. It was a bit out of my element to be in an office building, but I loved the beautiful light and sleek design of the new and gigantic Bow tower. It was hard to get serious shots, this guy is hilarious! Thanks Matt!

It was such a joy to go home to my native land, and familiar territory, to shoot this adorable wedding. Very seldom do I have the honour to photograph couples who are SO in love, and SO photogenic about it! Most of the best shots I got were not posed, but just very beautiful, natural expressions of love. They couldn't help themselves, and their affection for one another made every single heart light up with the awareness that we were witnessing true love, and respect. It was a beautiful day, and I am so happy I was chosen to share and capture it! Thank you J&I

Kim approached me, and asked me to capture some moments of her with her hilarious, adorable daughter Skylar, before summer ended. We managed to get out just as the leaves were beginning their descent. It was a beautiful evening, in my favorite place in Calgary, and the company was really, really funny.
